I’m advising this new Kickstarter that you should check out if you care about AI risks and regulation. My AI posts over the last couple of years have advocated for taking AI risks seriously by enacting strong AI regulation, especially to mitigate the potential of significant job market disruption. If that resonates with you, then this project should too. It will create a microsite game titled GAME OVER to help people better understand AI risks.
I’ve been advising the parent organization, School of Thought, for over a decade, who are focused generally on increasing critical thinking in society and have a particular knack for making viral educational microsites. Most recently they made a similar site on conspiracy theories, which you can use to get a sense of how it might be adapted for AI risks. And of course there is a lot more info on the Kickstarter page itself. (Their pages on biases and fallacies are also great.)
This new project was obviously in the works well before the recent news cycle on AI existential risks. The School of Thought’s approach here offers the potential to inject critical thinking about AI risks into the mainstream, which is clearly needed right now. Please join me in supporting the project.
